A flower grower that makes flower liqueurs.

Hokoen started in 1965 as a horticulture business in Aisai, Aichi Prefecture. It has long grown and bred cut chrysanthemums such as spray mums, and runs two farms in the city, Aisai Farm and Tatsuta Farm.

In 2017 the company built a liqueur production facility and obtained a production licence. Sakura Mai grew out of its work as a flower grower. The company spent a long time finding a way to keep edible cherry blossom petals floating in the bottle without sinking. The liqueur has a wine base and a peach flavour.

Sakura Mai was served as part of the food and drink hospitality at the 2023 G7 Hiroshima Summit.
