Mirabelle plum, fir and elderflower — an award-winning organic gin that bottles the Belgian Ardennes

Three forest aromas lead this gin: the roundness of ripe mirabelle plum (a small yellow plum), the cool freshness of fir and the soft sweetness of elderflower. Unlike a juniper-heavy dry gin it has real fruit, so a splash of tonic opens it right up. The bottle design has won awards too, which makes it an easy gift for a gin lover.

Aroma and taste

Round, silky and complex on the nose, led by white-fleshed fruit. On the palate: mirabelle roundness, fir freshness and elderflower sweetness. It opens spicy with juniper and pine, moves to vanilla-like notes of fruit and elderberry, and finishes long and sweet.

How to enjoy it

Arduenna & tonic: 50ml gin, 200ml tonic over ice, with rosemary or lemon zest
Passion: 50ml gin, Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic and one passion fruit
Martini: 50ml gin, 15ml dry vermouth, 5ml mirabelle liqueur
Collins: 50ml gin, 20ml lemon juice, 10ml cane sugar, topped with soda

The makers

Arduenna is the old name for the Ardennes, the great forest of southern Belgium. In 2021 two longtime friends, François and Martin, set out to bottle the air of that forest. The spirits are made by Distillerie Radermacher, founded in 1836 and the oldest distillery in Belgium — still family-run, led by the fifth generation with the sixth already on board. The brand is B Corp certified and every ingredient is organic.

You will find it at Michelin-starred restaurants in Belgium, Luxembourg and France, including the three-star Mirazur. It is also the official spirits partner of the French ski resort Val Thorens.
